Analysis of the French Tech Next40/120
THE NEW FRENCH TECH 120 / NEXT 40 PROMOTION HAS ARRIVED
The 2023 promotion of companies making up the French Tech Next 40/120 indices, programs for promoting fast-growing start-ups in France, was revealed this Sunday, February 19, 2023 by the Government. This year again, the program recognizes the importance of the fintech sector for the French economy.
FINTECH STRENGTHENS ITS SPEARHEAD POSITION OF FRENCH TECH
Our ecosystem consolidates its position as first sector represented, with 35% of the Next 40, i.e. 14/40 (compared to 13/40 in 2022) after the entry of ClubFunding in the index, and 20% of the French Tech 120. The FT120 sees the entry of new fintechs (Seyna, Sweep) concomitantly with the release of Luko and Meilleurtaux.
Note also two crossings from one index to another: EcoVadis and Pigment move from French Tech 120 to Next 40 and Alma and Ornikar from Next 40 to French Tech 120.
Our 10 unicorns (out of the 28 in France) are part of the French Tech Next40/120, 4 having reached this status in 2022 (Younited, Qonto, PayFit, and Spendesk), thus testifying to the sustained development of the ecosystem.
3 of the 15 co-founders spotlighted in the Class of 2023 come from the fintech ecosystem : Vanessa Fara Rabesandratana (Ledger), Eléonore Crespo (Pigment) and Rachel Delacour (Sweep), all members of France FinTech.

Methodology :
As a reminder, the program, carried out by the French Tech mission, offers support designed for French scale-ups capable of becoming world-class technology leaders.
To be ranked within the French Tech Next 40, you must:
- Either have unicorn status;
- Or have raised funds of at least 100 million euros between 2020 and 2022
To be classified within the French Tech 120 you must:
- Either have raised funds of at least 40 million euros between 2020 and 2022;
- Or have achieved a turnover of at least 10 million euros during the last closed fiscal year and witnessed an average growth of at least 25% during the last three closed fiscal years.
