European Commission consultation on the digital euro

This initiative aims to define and regulate the essential aspects of the digital euro, as a new form of central bank money, which could be issued by the European Central Bank/Eurosystem alongside banknotes and to parts.

This initiative will govern the main design features and other essential aspects of the digital euro.

After adoption of the Regulation, the European Central Bank/Eurosystem will be able to issue the digital euro in accordance with their respective objectives and mandates.
