Paris, the 2 April 2021
France FinTech, the professional association of French fintech, insurtech and regtech, publishes its quarterly fundraising barometer in partnership with BPI France.
March 2021
After a moderate level of activity in February, the pace of French fintech fundraising accelerated in March with € 163,5 million for 13 operationsEither an average ticket of € 12,6 million, driven in particular by the capital increase of Payfit. The main operations concerned payroll and human resources management (PayFit, € 90M), insurance tech (Acheel, € 29,5M), and even split payment solutions. (Pledg, € 15M).
First quarter 2021
The start of 2021 is part of the 2021 continuity
Fundraising reached € 383,2 million for 33 operations, up 51% in value compared to Q1 2020.
The average ticket stands at € 11,6 million, down slightly compared to 2020 (€ 15,8 million), which is explained by a doubling of the number of operations (+ 106%).
The good overall momentum in 2020 (reminder + 18,5% vs 2019) therefore seems to be continuing despite the health context.
Acceleration of funding for servicesx companies
Fundraising mainly concerned the so-called “operational” services sector (nearly 50% of the amounts) with an average ticket of €19 million.
The financing and insurance sectors are not to be outdone and together represent 40% of fintech fundraising in France in the first quarter.
Note that the priming and series A lifts represent nearly 60% of the total number of operations.
