Paris, the 05 February 2019

As part of a partnership with Julhiet Sterwen, a transformation consulting firm, France FinTech, the professional association of French fintechs, is publishing a white paper dedicated to French RegTech in 2019, with contributions from Domitille Dessertine, Director of AMF's FinTech, Innovation and Competitiveness Division, and Jean-Marc Guiteau, Global Head of RegTech Innovation & Development at BNP Paribas Securities Services.

RegTech occupies a special place in the world of finance. By their very activity, FinTechs specializing in the management of regulatory constraints have very specific relationships with banks, insurance companies and supervisory authorities. This universe is in full swing. Relational models are still being structured. And, with the growing weight of regulation, the stakes that will be borne by RegTech tomorrow can only grow. They will soon be completely essential players in the financial ecosystem.

The White Paper produced by France FinTech and Julhiet Sterwen makes it possible to explore this area from several angles. It offers you to deepen your knowledge of the market and to decipher the challenges:

  • What does RegTech represent on the French market?
  • How can it support banks, and even supervisory authorities, on regulatory issues?
  • What value and what risks does it bring to the regulator and financial institutions? ``

As pointed out by Guillaume Andreu, Associate Director at Julhiet Sterwen:
“The contribution of RegTech lies in their agility and their culture of innovation (risk taking, acceptance of error, test & learn process, etc.) which allows them to offer breakthrough solutions. They are gradually establishing themselves in the ecosystem of financial services and taking their place alongside financial institutions and supervisory authorities, which gradually convince themselves that they share converging interests with these new players ”.

You will also be able to discover the regulator's point of view: Domitille Dessertine, Director of the FinTech, Innovation and Competitiveness Division of the AMF, delivers the supervisor's vision and position on these players. To this testimony is added the more operational one of a major player in the sector, BNP Paribas Securities Services. Jean-Marc Guiteau, Global Head of RegTech Innovation & Development, shares his appreciation of the relationship to be built between “historic” banks and RegTech.

Finally, practical sheets complete these testimonials, presenting in a simple and pragmatic way a selection of French players representative of the sector.

For Alain Clot, President of France FinTech:
“For a long time, regulation has only been seen as a heavy constraint and a cost. It is now a development accelerator and its management a field of technological innovation and models. This is the whole ambition of RegTech ”
