France FinTech Fintech is here and now!

With more than 360 members, France Fintech is the representative association of the fast-growing sector of Fintechs. In this interview, Alain Clot, President of France Fintech, provides us with an overview and reviews the actions carried out by his association in the service of the development and support of Fintech in France and Europe.

Tell us about your association.
France FinTech is a non-profit association created in 2015 by French fintech entrepreneurs. To my great surprise, when it was created, they asked me to chair it, because they wanted the sector to be represented by someone with a dual background: in-depth knowledge of the world of traditional finance, a on the one hand, and new technologies and innovative models on the other.

Since its creation, the association has set itself three main missions:
Promote and publicize French fintech in France and abroad;

Represent the ecosystem vis-à-vis its stakeholders in France and around the world: the French government; the various national authorities, the regulator-supervisors, mainly the ACPR and the AMF, but also the CNIL, the Competition Authority, the European Commission, the world of research and education, banking establishments and insurance, venture capital, consulting firms.

Our global vision of the sector often makes us act as a link between the many sectoral associations of fintech: digital assets, crowdfunding, payments or even insurtech. We co-founded the European Digital Finance Association which is the European fintech association. We are an assumed lobby whose mission is to bring out the conditions for the development of a French sector of excellence. We have thus contributed to legislative texts and public reflections and to numerous studies and consultations;

Animate our ecosystem. We facilitate the connection of the various stakeholders and produce numerous contents (white papers, statistical studies in particular). We also organize events of all sizes. Co-organizer of the French FinTech Week alongside the ACPR-Banque de France, the AMF and the Paris&Co Finance & Insurance incubator, we are offering, within this initiative, the benchmark event for the ecosystem: FinTech R:Evolution which brings together nearly 1 people each year and which will take place this year on Thursday, October 500.
