Paris, July 19th 2023

France FinTech, the professional association of French fintech, insurtech and regtech, publishes the half-year report of the sector and announces the theme of the 8th edition of its annual event FinTech R:Evolution • #FFT23 • which will take place this year on Thursday 19 October at La Maison de la Mutualité, Paris. This 2023 edition will be called RIDERS ON THE STORM, which reflects both a turbulent macro-economic environment and the course maintained by our entrepreneurs.

The first half of 2023 is an extension of the recent period:

1.The further development of fintech activity, supported by the enduring trend of digitization of financial services.

2. A context of global crisis in the tech sector which results in:

  • strong downward pressure on fundraising: €568 million raised in 63 operations, i.e. -61% compared to the average of 202
  • a significant contraction in valuations

3. The deterioration of the economic environment and, even more, the uncertainty about the period to come, have led entrepreneurs to adapt their systems.

4. Fintechs, which remain the leading tech ecosystem in France, nevertheless continue to invest, particularly in:

recruitments: 9 planned for 000.
company takeovers: 15 M&A operations carried out since the beginning of the year.
technology: in particular AI and tokenization

5. The year was marked by major regulatory changes.

The period was characterized by both caution, made necessary by macro-economic uncertainties, and the maintenance of the dynamism and innovation that have characterized our sector for several years.

These themes, and many others, will be addressed during FinTech R:Evolution, which will be held on Thursday, October 19 at the Maison de la Mutualité.

For the eighth consecutive year, France FinTech will bring together all the key players in the sector: entrepreneurs, decision-makers, investors, journalists, regulators, researchers, influencers, political figures, etc. After CROSSROADS in 2022, RIDERS ON THE STORM will be the theme of this new edition, in a context where innovation continues despite macro-economic uncertainties.

FinTech R:Evolution has become the benchmark annual meeting for innovative finance, thanks to a selection of strategic themes and leading speakers in all fields. The event is also distinguished by the emphasis placed on debates and a great freedom of tone. Punctuated by numerous conferences, exchanges and debates, led by renowned speakers, this day will offer participants a global overview of the major challenges of the sector. More than 350 fintech, insurtech and regtech will share their experiences, innovations, vision and analysis. A real dive into the heart of the problems of the ecosystem allowing us to question the evolution of our economic and societal environment, technologies, uses or even professions.
