Consultation on the Data Act and the amended rules on the legal protection of databases

The Commission is committed to ensuring fairness in the way the value of the use of data is shared between businesses, consumers and responsible public bodies.

This initiative, known as the "data law", aims to facilitate access to data and its use, including between companies and between companies and administrations, and to review the rules relating to the legal protection of databases data.

It seeks to strike the right balance between data access rights and incentives to invest in data, without changing current data protection rules.
