Fintech: what to expect in 2024?

French fintechs are doing well: with 18,5% of funds raised last year compared to 16% in 2022, and the advent of Pennylane as a new unicorn, the first fintech ecosystem in the European Union is developing rapidly. Will the challenges of 2024 undermine this growth? Between the end of the abundance of financing, the development of new technologies and regulatory changes, the fintech sector must face many challenges.

“We are operating in an extremely difficult and uncertain macroeconomic environment, with the rise in rates, the return of inflation, strong tensions on solvency, the fall in volumes on the real estate market and of course the consequences of the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East", says Alain Clot, president of FranceFintech. “The translation of this context in the digital sector was the very sharp drop in equity raisings, with 970 million euros, a figure down 67% compared to the record year of 2022, and valuations, of the order of -25%. »
